TeleSpecialists Neurologists Dr. Neil Patel and Dr. Sandro Corti, both trained in Sports Neurology, will discuss:

  • What is a concussion?
  • Tips for neurological evaluation.
  • Management options (outpatient follow up recommendations and when to consult a neurologist).
  • Overview of sports neurology.

Leading the Conversation

Dr. Sandro Corti is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. He also has fellowship training in Sports Neurology, which involves treatment of concussion, post-concussion syndrome, and neurological disorders in athletes.
He is a graduate of The College of New Jersey and attended medical school at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. His neurology residency was at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Sports Neurology at The Kutcher Clinic in Brighton, Michigan.
Dr. Corti has research interests in the diagnosis and management of sports-related concussion, as well as the long-term consequences of concussion and repetitive sub-concussive hits in athletes. He has presented concussion research at national medical conferences, including the AAN Sports Concussion Conference and Big Sky Athletic Training Sports Medicine Conference.

Dr. Patel received his medical degree as well as his MBA from St. George’s University in St. George’s, Grenada.
He completed his neurology residency at the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York, where he also served as chief resident.
He did a fellowship in Sports Neurology and pain medicine at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Patel is originally from New York and currently resides in Los Angeles, where he enjoys sports, music and cooking. He has a passion for sideline neurology. He enjoys teaching medical students and residents as well as working in healthcare operational management.
