THE PROBLEM
Atrium Health Floyd wanted to implement best practices for their current stroke flow process and improve door-to-needle (DTN) times.
THE SOLUTION
Atrium Health Floyd is dedicated to excellence in stroke care and has implemented best practices to assure optimal door-to-needle time, including:
- Cart to CT
- Nurse-activated stroke alerts
- Nurse mixing and administration of thrombolytic
- Conversion to Tenecteplase
- Attention to metrics and rapid cycle improvement
Atrium Health Floyd partnered with us, TeleSpecialists, to review monthly stroke metrics to identify robust countermeasures for improvement. As a result of deploying best practices coupled with aggressive data review and follow-up, there has been a continued decrease in DTN times, with an overall 24% improvement from 2022 to 2023.
