TeleSpecialists’ Dr. Sevilis featured on “Neurology Nuts and Bolts: Constructing Your Career” podcast
Telemedicine has become a significant part of mainstream medicine over the last decade, especially after the recent utilization during the COVID-19 pandemic. Neurologists were early adopters of telemedicine as telestroke provided an opportunity to reach so many more acute stroke patients. The ability to see patients across your state or across the country within minutes allowed for an increase in access to critical care in the early hours of a stroke. Where you choose to live should not dictate your ability to access care, and with telestroke it doesn’t have to.
As the field continues to rapidly grow, it’s important for neurologists to learn the skills required to adjust to the new clinical care environment and familiarize themselves with the regulations. Most physicians will be incorporating telemedicine into their workflow which not only has advantages for patients but also to physician lifestyle. TeleSpecialists’ neurologist Dr. Theresa Sevilis was excited to have the opportunity to share her experience with telestroke/teleneurology, as well as learn about the experiences of her colleague while being a guest on the Neurology Nuts and Bolts podcast.
