TeleSpecialists Brings Stroke Care to California’s Central Valley Through Partnership with Kaweah Health
Board-certified stroke specialists reach Kaweah Health patients within three minutes, closing a longstanding neurological care gap in California’s Central Valley
FORT MYERS, Fla., May 8, 2026. TeleSpecialists has launched TeleStroke services at Kaweah Health, connecting the hospital’s clinical team with board-certified stroke specialists within three minutes of patient arrival. The program went live in January 2026, providing the facility on-demand neurological expertise at the moment it matters most: when a patient’s outcome depends on rapid, accurate treatment decisions.
For communities across California’s Central Valley, geographic distance has long shaped what specialist care is available and how quickly it arrives. Kaweah Health, a Primary Stroke Center since 2018, recognized that sustaining and strengthening that designation required around-the-clock specialist support its community could count on. When a suspected stroke patient arrives, a TeleSpecialists board-certified stroke specialist is on screen within three minutes, guiding the clinical team through assessment and entering orders directly into the hospital’s electronic medical record.
The TeleStroke program is the foundation of a broader neurological care continuum TeleSpecialists is building with Kaweah Health. As the partnership grows, additional services, including in-patient neurology rounding, EEG monitoring, and outpatient follow-up care, provide the Visalia community a path to comprehensive neurological support without leaving the region.
“Expanding access to rapid stroke care in a community where specialist availability has historically been limited is exactly the kind of work that drives our team. Kaweah Health brings the same clinical seriousness to this collaboration that we do, and that alignment is what makes outcomes possible. We look forward to what this program delivers for their patients,” said Laurie Mayer, MBA, BSN, RN, CPAHA, Quality Program Specialist, TeleSpecialists.
The Kaweah Health partnership is one of more than 400 active partnerships TeleSpecialists maintains across 32 states. Each is built around the partner hospital’s existing infrastructure, clinical workflows, and community needs. With more than 1.5 million patient consultations delivered since 2014, TeleSpecialists brings an implementation model that hospital teams can put to work from day one.
